RE: Public meetings scheduled regarding conservation issues.
The Upper Peninsula Sportsmen’s Alliance (UPSA) is hosting 5 regional meetings throughout the Upper Peninsula, to obtain information from U.P. conservation sportsmen and women on how they feel about conservation and hunting issues.
Hunters, especially deer hunters, have seen a decline of the deer herd and satisfaction in even seeing deer while afield in the last few years. Concerns are being raised as to how the deer are managed with emphasis on harvest quotas, certain seasons, habitat conditions and predation. UPSA is seeking input from sportsmen on these issues and will conduct five public forums to bring them to resolve.
These meetings are for the public and attendance is encouraged to establish a large representative sample. This is your chance to let your voice be heard in numbers that matter. There are NO preconceived outcomes planned for these meetings. Each meeting will be conducted to achieve hunter goals/objectives based on the majority present.
Meetings are planned in several locations for convenience as follows:
> February 16, Bay deNoc Community College Heirman Center Room 952, 2001 N. Lincoln Rd., in Escanaba.
> February 18, Bay deNoc Community College West Annex Fornetti Room, 2801 N. US 2 in Iron Mountain.
> February 25, Lake View Arena, Citizens Forum Room, 1420 Pine St., in Marquette.
> March 9, Ottawa Sportsmen Club, 11075 M-38 7, Baraga (located 7 miles west of Baraga on M-38).
> March 11, Community Building Basement, 405 Newberry Ave in Newberry.
All meetings will begin at 7 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. CT
