6-6-11 Operation of Escanaba Power Plant switches hands
The operations of the Escanaba Power Plant officially switches hands today from the Upper Peninsula Power Company to Pro Energy Systems. The switch actually occurred at 10 a.m. last Friday but today is the day that that the plant officially switches hands. Escanaba City Manager Jim O’Toole says Pro Energy Systems has been good to deal with. The switch ends UPPCOs fifty year operation of the plant. The process is now continuing to sell the plant.
6-6-11 Fire damages Escanaba home
Fire damaged a home at 405 South 12th Street in Escanaba Sunday. Escanaba Public Safety responded to the fire at 9:30 Sunday morning. They found the two story home filled with smoke. Public Safety says the fire started in the basement of the home and quickly spread to the first floor. Officers remained on the scene until 12:20 p.m. They were assisted by the Ford River Fire Department.
